Student of the Week - Simon Slade - Engineering - Smethport Hubbers

We are pleased to announce that the Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center engineering student of the week is Simon Slade. Simon is a junior at Smethport Area High School, where he participates in marching band and is a member of their trap team. He has also been active in the Boy Scouts of America organization for the past eight years.

At the Career and Technical Center, he is an active member of our Safety Committee. Simon consistently completes all of his assigned work while actively working on additional machining projects in the engineering shop.

He has successfully completed his NIMS project, built a toy cannon, and built a steam engine. He is currently working on building a second steam engine of a different design at double-scale. Simon also speaks to visiting students during school tours, helping promote our engineering technology program. Following graduation, he plans to continue his education at Penn Tech in the machining program. Simon plans to one day own and operate his own shop.
