Successful Free Computer Clinic Helps Community Prepare for Windows 10 End-of-Support

The Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center (SHCTC) Networking program recently hosted a free computer clinic to help local residents prepare for Microsoft’s upcoming end of support for Windows 10, scheduled for October 14, 2025.

The event, held on October 7 and 8, 2025, welcomed ten community participants who brought their Windows 10 computers and laptops for personalized assistance. Under the guidance of SHCTC Networking students, attendees learned how to upgrade to Windows 11 (if compatible) or switch to a secure, free alternative operating system to keep their devices safe and functional.

Participants received hands-on support to check compatibility, perform upgrades, and explore alternative operating systems. The clinic provided all necessary equipment, including monitors, mice, and keyboards, ensuring a smooth and informative experience for everyone involved.

“We were thrilled to see community members take proactive steps to protect their computers,” said Brent Bryant, event organizer and SHCTC instructor. “Our students gained valuable real-world experience, and our attendees left with safer, up-to-date technology.”

The SHCTC Networking program plans to continue offering community outreach opportunities that combine student learning with valuable local technology support.
