Seneca Highlands CTC Hosts Pre-Apprenticeship Connection & Celebration Event
Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center (CTC) proudly welcomed students, educators, and industry professionals to its pre-apprenticeship connection & celebration event on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at its center at 219 Edison Bates Drive in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania.
This all-day event brought together local high school students and a diverse range of early childhood education (ECE) partners to highlight registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs that support the next generation of early educators in Pennsylvania.
Students from Seneca Highlands and Bradford School District had the opportunity to engage directly with leading organizations such as WorkForce Solutions for North Central Pennsylvania, the Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC), ECE PDO@PASSHE, T.E.A.C.H., the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC), PennWest University, and Slippery Rock University. The event also featured informational vendor tables, example CDA portfolios, and materials from the Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children (PennAEYC).
A central component of the event was a panel discussion and presentation on registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs, showcasing real pathways into the ECE profession. The event also celebrated student achievements with special recognition awards presented to pre-apprenticeship participants from both Seneca Highlands and Bradford. Students who took dual enrollment classes through PennWest in the 2024-25 academic year received certificates.
“This event not only connects students to valuable resources but also shines a spotlight on their dedication to becoming professional educators,” said event organizers. “It’s about celebrating their hard work and giving them the tools to continue growing in their careers.”
The day concluded with lunch, networking opportunities, and time for continued exploration of vendor resources. Thank you to all who were involved in making this day a success!
